✦ Starspot Support
Starspot is an AR sky map. Point your phone at the sky to see the names of stars, constellations, planets, the Moon and the International Space Station (ISS). Indoors or on a cloudy night, tap "Explore without camera" to look around the sky with your finger.
Frequently asked questions
The labels don't line up with the real stars
- A phone's compass can be off by 10–20°. Move your phone in a figure 8 a few times to calibrate it, and keep away from magnetic cases and metal.
- When the Sun, the Moon or bright stars are in view, the app finds them with the camera and lines up every label automatically (Settings → Auto-correct with the Sun and stars).
- If it's too cloudy, tap 🎯 Align at the bottom left to line them up yourself.
I didn't allow the camera or location
You can still use the app with "Explore without camera". Without location, the app uses a default location, so the sky may not match where you are. You can change permissions at any time in your phone's Settings app → Starspot.
My Starspot Pro purchase is gone (new phone or reinstalled app)
Go to Settings → Starspot Pro → More → Restore purchase. Make sure you're signed in with the Apple ID or Google account you bought it with. Purchases can't be moved between iPhone and Android.
Refunds
Payments are handled by the App Store and Google Play, so refunds are requested from them: on iPhone at reportaproblem.apple.com, and on Android in the Play Store app → Payments & subscriptions → Budget & history.
Alerts don't arrive, or arrive late
- Alerts are a Pro feature. Turn them on in Settings → Alerts and allow notifications.
- On Android 12 and later, if Settings shows "Get alerts on time", tap Allow and turn on "Alarms & reminders" for Starspot.
- Battery saver modes can delay notifications.
Ads
The free version shows Google AdMob ads. Buying Starspot Pro removes them. To turn off personalized ads, see section 4 of the privacy policy.
